Morteza Hodaee, born on July 22, 1981, is celebrated in Iranian cinema for his exceptional work as a cinematography director.

His journey into the world of film began with a passion for the arts, leading him to pursue studies in performing arts at IRIB University, where he graduated in 1999.

His desire for learning led him to earn a bachelor's degree in drama from the Faculty of Art and Architecture in Tehran in 2001.

At the age of 22, Hodaee embarked on his professional career, assuming the role of director of cinematography for the film 'Twenty One Inches' directed by Abouzar Safarian in 2003.

His remarkable talent caught the attention of critics worldwide, with renowned critic Deborah A. Young of the Hollywood Reporter lauding his work in 'Twenty One Inches'.

While leaving lasting impressions in Iranian cinema, Hodaee also dedicated himself to mentoring aspiring filmmakers. He shared his expertise by teaching cinematography at the University of Applied Sciences and a film school supervised by Masoud Kimiaee.

Hodaee's skill behind the camera earned him numerous accolades throughout his career.

In 2007, he clinched the diploma of honor for the best cinematography at the third Tehran International Short Film Festival for his work on the film 'Shadow'.

Four years later, his technical and artistic achievements in the film 'Awaiting a Miracle' directed by Rasoul Sadr-Ameli earned him another diploma of honor at the 30th Fajr International Film Festival.

In 2020, Hodaee's contributions were recognized once again when he was nominated for the Crystal Simorgh for his work on the film 'Without Everything'.

Being the youngest member of the Iranian Society of Cinematographers (IRSC), Hodaee keeps pushing the boundaries of visual storytelling, making a lasting impact on the world of cinema.

Throughout his career, Hodaee has collaborated with esteemed directors, including Ebrahim Hatamikia in 'Invitation', Majid Majidi in 'The Song of Sparrows', Reza Mirkarimi in 'Castle of Dreams', and Masoud Dehnamaki in 'Deportees 3'.

Here are some other movies he collaborated with as a cinematographer: 'Two Days Later', 'Pothole', 'Kianoush's Garden', 'The Night Guardian', 'The Black Cat', 'Rahman 1400', 'Woman's Enemy', 'Hattrick', and 'Blockage'.
